Rocky Mountain National Park Hotels
Rocky Mountain National Park hotels are primarily found in the city of Estes Park, a gateway located in the
valley below Longs Peak. Most tourists choose Estes Park accommodations as a base for exploring the pristine
mountainous region, although the towns of Grand Lake, Steamboat Springs, and Loveland also provide lodging within
driving distance. Estes Park lodging varies from rental cabins to large resorts and almost everything in-between.
Wildlife viewing often requires just a peek out of the windows of most Estes Park and Grand Lake hotels, since
animals such as elk often meander directly through the city. Although many enjoy the views from area hotels,
others are inclined to commune directly with nature from a park campsite.
Visiting the Rockies National Park
Rocky Mountain National Park - an expanse filled with snowcapped mountains that overlook high alpine lakes, meadows
flooded with colorful wildflowers, and dense forest lands - is one of the most breathtakingly scenic areas in
America. All ages and physical abilities enjoy the beauty within the park's varied terrain, thanks to fantastic
alpine highways such as Trail Ridge Road. The road, which leads from Estes Park to the community of Grand Lake,
meanders through different ecosystems and vistas and eventually peaks at 12,183 feet. Those who brave the physically
challenging trail up the 14,255-foot Longs Peak are rewarded with an unparalleled view from the mountain's summit.
However, a short amble along one of the park's easier trails also promises outstanding mountain vistas, beautiful
plant life, and possibly a sighting of an elk, moose, or bighorn sheep.
